The Water Emergency Checklist
Printed-and-ready steps for the first hour of a leak.
Safety first: if water is anywhere near outlets, panels or equipment, stay clear and call emergency services. Water and electricity together are not a do-it-yourself situation.
Then isolate: main shutoff, fixture valves, or the building's isolation point. If you cannot find it, call - quick phone guidance is free and often decisive.
Then document: photos and video of everything before moving it, including the water's path and the meter if visible. Contain what you safely can. This record is what insurers work from, and it is much harder to reconstruct later.
